When I was younger I started this hobby of collecting information on other people. Okay, that sounds
creepy.
What I mean is, I started collecting a bank of information in my head on what my friends did and didn’t
like. This could include things like their favorite candy, their favorite store, their favorite candle scent, etc. I would use what I knew about my friends when it was their birthday, or sometimes when I just wanted to
let them know I was thinking about them.
I’ve never been one to show my emotions on my sleeve, so the easiest way for me to tell others how much
I care about them is by giving them gifts!
This hobby stuck with me as I got older, and eventually turned into something where I keep little lists about
people in one of my notebooks.
Once again – sounds creepy without context.
Now, these lists aren’t very long, just small things I pick up on about others that I think will come in handy. Embarrassingly enough, the reason I have to write these down is that I often forget even my best friends
favorite things.
What Makes Our Relationship With God so Special
The cool thing about God is he has these same lists I keep but they’re pages and pages long. They are the “DNA” of our entire makeup. What we like, what we don’t like, what we desire, what we dream of, what we want to do with our lives, what people have hurt us, what places bring us the most joy, etc. I could go on and on, but I think you get it.
If you are ever feeling misunderstood, unloved, or worthless know that God understands you, loves you, and see’s worth in you like no other.
It might seem like I hit on the topic of God’s love a lot, but it’s something I need to be reminded of each
and every day, which makes me think you might too. It’s what keeps me grounded when feelings of insecurity, or misunderstanding creep in. It’s what keeps me going when I feel lost or unworthy.
There is a difference between simply knowing God loves you personally and believing that God loves you
personally! You see, when you realize the personalized love and affection God gives to each of us, you will stop
questioning things like your worth or your status.
It makes things like failure or rejection just a blip along the way, instead of being a giant big stop sign in
your path. It makes anxieties disappear while riding you of fear. It makes the bad days not seem so bad, and the good days seem greater.
His love delights in us and sings over us, friends, know that and embrace that! (Zephaniah 3:17)
It’s also important to know that the more you study scripture, the greater understanding you will have of God’s uniquely and personalized love.
Remember: You are seen, you are loved, you are cherished, you are understood, you are known, and you are chosen by the creator of the universe.
Thoughts for the day:
Do you actually believe God’s love for you is personal or is it just something you say?
Where can you God’s love in a visible way for you today?
